New Year Greetings

2015 Move to India

The most significant change in that year or even in seven years of living in Kyoto after having a son was our relocation to India. Our dream of working abroad had come true. Our lives changed dramatically.

I used three symbolic objects to represent “from (Kyoto)” “to (India)”.

  1. World Heritage: from Five-story pagoda to Taj Mahal
  2. Drink: from Uji GreenTea to Chai
  3. Son’s clothes:from Japanese Yukata to Indian Kurta (traditional costume)(He also got an English nickname!)

The animal in the lower right is a sheep, the Chinese zodiac sign. It is not a cow, which is associated with India.

We sent these cards out around the beginning of December because it was impossible to make them arrive on the New Year’s Day as Japanese New Year’s Cards.(Or could we? We never know…) As long as it’s Winter Greetings, it shouldn’t matter whenever it arrives.
