Ise Specialty Akafuku Main Store

This is the main store of Akafuku, famous for its Akafuku rice cakes, which are a staple souvenir of Ise-Shima and can now be bought anywhere, as seen in the commercial “Ise – a specialty of – Akafuku rice cakes are eejanaika ♫.”

In addition to actually making and selling Akafuku, there is a cafe (resting) space where you can eat Akafuku on the spot. This is a good spot to stop by when visiting the Ise Jingu Shrine.

Here’s what I recommend

(1) Easy to stop by location

Akafuku’s main store is located between the parking lot and the Ise Shrine (around the entrance to the Okage Yokocho) when you visit the Ise Shrine. It is the best place to stop by on your way home after visiting the shrine on foot from the parking lot.

(2) Reasonable price

Here, a set of two Akafuku and tea, as shown in the attached photo, costs 230 yen. You will be taken to a tatami mat room where you can take a rest and enjoy the view of the Isuzu River. You can take off your shoes and relax, and your tired feet will be relieved. You can eat Akafuku, drink tea, and relax for 230 yen, which is very cost-effective.

3) Enjoy freshly made Akafuku.

The Akafuku served here is of course freshly made. The red bean paste and rice cakes are very soft and different from the Akafuku you get as a souvenir.

There are many stores along the Ise Highway where the Akafuku Main Store is located, and it is hard to decide where to eat. However, it is a good place to take a break when you are hungry and enjoy Ise specialties.
