Board Game

New Year’s card design (2018) I’m enjoying Board Games! ~We love Board Games!

Board games have been a common pastime for my husband and wife since before we were married, and for all three of us since our son was old enough to remember. Since we left Japan, we have been spending more time together as a family and have become even more addicted to board games. This year, I designed a New Year’s card using some of the packages of board games, along with each of our favorite games.

The message is simple: “We love (❤) Board Games. I’ve been adding more and more games based on my husband’s preferences, my son’s growth, things I’ve found in places I’ve visited, and things that can be enjoyed by my family (two or three people), and the number of games has grown to about 80.

Among those many games, here are the favorite games of each of us at the time.

My husband’s favorite: Carcassonne.

The game is played by placing randomly drawn tiles with cities and roads on them on the field, and sending people to complete the cities and roads to earn points, with the winner being the person with the most points.

Released in Germany in 2000. Winner of the German Game Award.

The number of people is highly recommended for the development of the game. The basic routine is simple (1. take a tile, 2. place a tile, 3. place a person, repeat), and since the tiles that are turned over are drawn randomly, the balance of luck and strategy is very easy to achieve.

By the way, Carcassonne is the name of a place in France, a fortified city from the ancient Roman era. I learned about this city through the game and actually went on a trip there.

My Wife’s Favorite: Four Suspects – The Mystery that Disappeared in the Hot Spring

A game in which you have to find the culprit (actually the culprit, the time, and the place of the crime) based on the clues given in a single murder case.

The actual process is that one of the 16 cards with (the culprit, the time of the crime, and the place of the crime) is left face down on the field so that no one can see it, and the player guesses the card.

As each player has different information, the key is to find out the information that is favorable to you as quickly as possible and eliminate other possibilities. It’s a logical puzzle-solving game that requires a lot of brain power, but you’ll feel a great sense of accomplishment when you identify the culprit. It’s a slingshot strategy game with relatively few luck elements.

My son’s favorite: Ubongo.

This is a game in which the player has to arrange the tiles according to the cards given to them. The fastest player gets a bonus, and the time to think is fixed, so speed is the key.

The rules are simple and the level of each player can be changed, so beginners and experts, children and adults can all enjoy this puzzle game. It is also a good brain training game.

For 2 to 4 players. It can be done in a short time by changing the score of victory or defeat. There is little element of luck, but you can change the level, so it is easy for beginners to enter.
